About

Hi! I’m Lionel Gardner. I’m also affectionately known as The Fooly, Das Fooly or Da Fooly.

In October of 2013, I cried my little heart out in the backyard of the cat friendliest house I could find. I was less than 4 weeks old and I just couldn’t keep up with my birth mommy and siblings. The disappeared up the hill and I was alone and scared. Luckily, my new Daddy (Andy) heard me crying and sent the most wonderful person in the world to check on me: my new Mommy (Martha). I didn’t hesitate to approach her when she found me. I was so cold and wet. When I climbed her leg and she scooped me into her arms, I knew I’d found my safe spot.

Mommy and Daddy took me in right away and gave me a warm box to curl up in. They briefly left me in this little tiny room but when they came back, they gave me a nice warm bath and a bottle full of yummy milk (I later found out it was actually replacement milk but it was yummy all the same).

After may weeks of learning about the litter box, learning how to eat wet food from a bowl, and trying to get my bearings, Mommy took me to the vet. She was concerned because my back legs seemed a little wonky. I didn’t really notice anything weird but she kept insisting that something seemed off. Many vet visits later and a special trip to see a nice doctor that really just observed me (I hear she is a brain doctor — so cool), they have determined that I have Cerebellar Hypoplasia (or Wobbly Cat Syndrome). Without an MRI, they’re really just guessing my diagnosis at this point but those tests are expensive and I’d rather Mommy spends her hard earned money on toys and treats 🙂 Anyhow, I don’t notice that I’m any different from my brother and sister, except that I’m cuter and maybe a little more hyper.

I really enjoy treat-time, napping in my hidey-hole, bug hunting, and belly flops. I don’t like getting my hair brushed, getting too much loving from my humans, having my nails trimmed, the outside (it’s scary out there), and medicine.

But my favorite thing in the whole world is playtime. I may get a little overzealous sometimes when it comes to playtime which is probably why Mommy and Daddy call it ‘Fooly Time’. If it was up to me, I’d play all day long: chase, hide and go seek, catch the string, bat the ball. It doesn’t really matter the game as long as I get to play.

So come along with my on my adventure as I grown, learn and develop.
